Accept That There Are Situations You Can't Control

self-care

Love and accept that there are some situations that you cannot control.

Let go of any tendency to try to be in control of everything. What a relief it is! No longer do you have to be responsible for everything. It is much easier to focus on what you can control, instead of worrying about the things you cannot control!

What can you control? You can control your own thoughts and actions. You can control how you react to events and your expectations.

When you focus on what you can control, you will become more effective.

Instead of fretting over a challenge, seek solutions and take action on your decisions.

Instead of worrying about what others will think, live true to your own morals, ethics, and beliefs. In being true to yourself, you strengthen your self-esteem.

Rather than bemoan a situation, take whatever action you can to make things better. Taking decisive action reduces your stress about the situation and gives you hope for a better day ahead.

Accept that you cannot control the actions of others. You might prefer it that way. Life would be truly complicated if you had the responsibility of controlling and directing everyone!

Simply letting go of the need to control takes the weight of the world off your shoulders.

Today, plan to accept whatever the day brings, do what you can where you can, and let the rest go!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS:

  1. Do you get frustrated at situations beyond your control?
  2. How can taking decisive action reduce your stress about a current challenge?
  3. What can you do to let go of something out of your control?
